Muslins: The essential accessory for your facial cleansing rituals.
Over the last few years, we women have used cotton pads or cleansing wipes in our beauty rituals to remove makeup or simply to cleanse our faces. We did it thinking they were the perfect option, unaware of all the waste both products create.

But don't worry, because there is a solution for everything: certified organic cotton muslins.
We all want to show off luminous and radiant, smooth and soft skin. This ideal can become a reality if you start incorporating a facial cleansing routine that is kind to your body and respectful of the entire world.
Because facial cleansing is the beginning and end of any self-care ritual, but it is important that it does not cause any damage: if you want to know more about this, read our article on "Double Facial Cleansing".
And muslins are an indispensable accessory to make your beauty routines an effective and very appealing tool.
How are muslins used for facial cleansing?
Muslins are soft, lightweight cotton cloths that can bring out the best in cleansing balms and exfoliants in their goal of removing impurities, dead cells, dirt, oil, and leftover makeup.

Furthermore, using them is very easy: they can be dampened with warm water to remove the soap or facial cleanser that was used previously.
In both cases, we will gently pass the cloth over the face, using light touches, without rubbing, and with a lot of love and care (especially in the eye contour area). To achieve a clear and clean face, we advise passing the muslin at least two to three times to properly remove cosmetic residues.
If we practice double facial cleansing, what we will do with the muslin is, in the first step (with the oily product you use), remove all oily impurities, such as makeup and sebum, and in the next step (with the water-based formula, gel, or foam), eradicate water-based impurities and dead cells.
Additionally, their gentle exfoliation:
- helps stimulate the lymphatic system, increasing blood circulation in our face and thus reducing inflammation,
- opens pores and decongests the skin,
- prepares the skin for the subsequent application of your usual treatment...
They can be used by all skin types, as they are extremely soft and their friction is light and beneficial for the most sensitive skin. Their material does not harm the hydrolipidic mantle and provides a delicate and pleasant exfoliation (in many cases, the same material used to swaddle babies is used).
Once the facial cleansing is complete, you can wash and reuse it, thus promoting a zero-waste routine and contributing to environmental well-being.
What should you avoid when using a muslin?
When choosing the best makeup remover muslins, opt for those made of certified organic cotton measuring 20cm x 20cm.

When using it, it is important to be gentle. Neither rub nor exert too much pressure; making soft movements from the center outwards is sufficient.
Once you use it, rinse it well after each cleaning and clean it with organic, neutral soap every time you use makeup. Being made of a very fine fabric, it dries quickly, so it is well worth washing it every night to have it ready first thing in the morning.
Its lifespan depends on the amount of makeup we use, and its replacement is usually due to them ending up very stained. You will rarely have to change a muslin because it is torn, as they are very resistant. They can last for years if you don't wear makeup.
Our certified organic cotton muslins have been sustainably handmade, one by one, in Spain, by social inclusion associations, without bleaching agents. Their soft weave pampers even the most delicate skin and complements the cleansing balm and the eye and lip makeup remover very well.
